FAQs

What is Habitat for Humanity?

Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry that seeks to eliminate poverty housing around the world. To accomplish our mission, people of all backgrounds, races, and religions build houses together in fraternal partnership with families in need. Habitat homes are sold with 0% interest mortgages so that low-income families who may not otherwise be able to afford their own home are able to become homeowners.

How does Habitat provide affordable housing?

Habitat is able to make housing affordable because of community support. Homeowners and construction volunteers build under trained supervision and contribute thousands of hours of labor to further reduce home building costs. Individuals, corporations, faith groups, and others provide vital financial support through house sponsorships, monetary contributions, and in-kind donations.
